Pepper

With a successful headlining tour under their belt, supporting their smashing album, "No Shame," We ask Yesod Williams some questions about who is Pepper, what is their message, and where are they from?

By: Gian Erguiza

Gian: How did Pepper get started?

Yesod: The three of us are all from Kona, HI, basically grew up together. Bret and Kaleo had been jamming and writing tunes all through high school, I just partied and surfed with my friends, hadn't played drums in a while. Right after Bret and I graduated we ended up officially starting pepper. After a year or so, it was either wait tables for the rest of our lifes or move to the mainland and try to do something with the band, we did the latter.

Gian: What is the message that your band is trying to convey?

Yesod: An all around good time and release of energy. Our live shows thrive off the energy our beautiful fans bring, they get it, it's about living life to the fullest, having fun, and not taking ones self to seriously. Life is long and boring without entertainment.

Gian: Who or What is your Inspiration?

Yesod: The Big Island of Hawaii where we grew up, pretty much majority of music besides EMO :( and comedy in it's purest form. And John Bohnam.

Gian: Any Good or Bad times on the Road/Tour?

Yesod: Basically it's the best job in the world, so there isn't much bad, maybe the whole hurry up to wait thing that happens everyday isn't to key. We're always hurrying to get places, then waiting around for hours to play the show, once the show starts we're on a heavy train with biscuit wheels.

Gian: How did the music come about for “No Control?” What inspired it?

Yesod: That is a jam that Kaleo brought in the riff for, which is how all the songs start, some one brings in a riff that usually starts on acoustic guitar, then as a band we work it into a complete song. The song is just about pushing life to the limits, that feeling you get sometimes where you just want to go crazy!!!!! with a little metaphorical enhancement added.

Gian: What would you guys be doing if you weren’t Making Music?

Yesod: We'd be waiters back home in Kona hooking up with tourist chicks, or married with 8 kids.

Gian: What do you hope to accomplish with your music?

Yesod: We just want to keep progressing and making better music. I think through our 4 albums you can hear a steady progression and that's what it's about. We also want to see the world, One huge perk in this biz.

Gian: Any advice for struggling musicians?

Yesod: Just keep touring and struggling, sacrifice is a huge part of advancing in this biz and touring is the cornerstone.

Gian: Sex, Drugs or Rock n Roll? Pick one.

Yesod: Rock and Roll, the other 2 inevitably follow.

Gian: Any additional comments? Upcoming Projects?

Yesod: Make sure and check out our new album "no shame" and keep up with our tour schedule on www.pepperlive.com, we will be touring all next year!!!!!! Sent from my BlackBerry wireless handheld.

Thanks Yesod! Good Luck and Best Wishes on the Headlining tour! Make sure you guys go pick up "No Shame" out now on Lava-Atlantic/Volcom Entertainment/Law Records.

UNSIGNED SPOTLIGHT

MY PRIVATE HELL

Hailing from the concrete jungle known as Los Angeles, My Private Hell is poised to take over the world. With hard drivin' riffs, beautiful melodies, harmonous vocals, commanding bass, and thunderous drums, My Private Hell is definitely a different type of band. My Private Hell had a good run last year but is hoping to expand their network/possibilities when their debut album comes out sometime in 2007.
