FRANTIK GIRL
ABOUT
CONTACTNonpoint has been a staple in the rock/latin/metal scene since their inception in 1997. With great music, melodies and hooks, Nonpoint is here to stay. We talk to Robb Rivera of Nonpoint about the band's current state.
By: Gian Erguiza
Gian: How did you guys decide which songs were going to end up on the Live and
Kicking CD/DVD, which is phenomenal by the way?
Robb: We decided on those because those are the songs that kids love hear live. we can come through 20 times and they still want to hear those songs. and they are most fun to play live as well.
Gian: Aside from making kick ass albums, what goes into making a certified
Nonpoint album?
Robb: Well alot of battling. lol. lots of hard work. we bounce ideas off of each other and try to make songs like that. it is a team effort.
Gian: What can we expect from the new album and is there tentative release date in the works?
Robb: No title as of yet but we are hoping to get it out this year. we are in the process of writing the most amazing nonpoint record yet. so far the process has been great but it is always hard to write a record.
Gian: Being one of the most kick ass bands to pound the music scene, what are
you guys’ thoughts on the current Metal/Hip Hop/Rock scene?
Robb: Not sure if that scene even exists anymore. it has been gone for quite sometime. outside of rage againts the machine and hed pe "broke era" there is no other band that combined true hip hop rhymes in rock music and made it sound good. rage is coming back and i am hoping they will do a tour of the states.
Gian: As a whole, what’s one of the most valuable lessons that you guys have
learned over the years of playing?
Robb: Just to stay positive in this business. after all the hard times we have been through that is the one thing that has been in the back of our minds.
Gian: Which city/state so far after all these years has given you guys the most love?
Robb: Florida and Wisconsin. love those two states.
Gian: If given the chance to line up the bands/artists for a tour, with
Nonpoint headlining, who would you guys bring along?
Robb: Hmm that is a tough one. not sure of what bands but i would love to do a latin type tour. with latin bands.
Gian: What would you guys be doing if you guys weren’t making music?
Robb: Dont even want to think about that.
Gian: Plans for 2007-2008?
Robb: New record and a shit load of touring
Gian: Any additional comments?
Robb: Thank you for the love and support. to all newcomers please check us out at http://www.myspace.com/nonpoint
Gian: Thanks Robb and Keep kicking ass!
