Hatebreed has always delivered. Thier newest installment, "Supremacy" was probably one of the heaviest and brutal records to come out this year so it was only appropriate that I go to the show to witness the power live. After all, Hatebreed is one of my favortie bands to date.
There were three other bands on the bill but my ass didn't get there until the third band was already on, fashionably late as usual. Now by the time the third band, whoever they were, rockin' out onstage, I was busy get tossed with a few friends. I could see the crowds getting bigger as the night went by and by the time Ignite hit the stage, It was a packed house full of hardcore kids, metal heads and old skoolers.
The O.C. based Ignite hit the stage as the co-headliner for the night. Now I've never seen Ignite live but they were not bad at all. I was expecting another hardcore screaming venture but these guys were actually quite different. I'm more on the screaming than singing but they were on point and really got the crowd going, preparing everyone for Hatebreed. Ignite had a few songs to mosh to but I was saving all of my aggression for Hatebreed. Ignite definitely held their own and showed up the crowd. Ignite is good.
A few more beers later after Ignite, Hatebreed was finally poised to take the stage. Needless to say, from the opening riffs, all hell was about to break lose! The first song they played was defeatist. Holy mother of god, the place went ape shit! By the fourth song, perseverance, moshpits were in full swing and I was enjoying myself bigtime. Shit, I even almost lost a tooth when my ass got hit on the face but it really didn't matter at the time. I think the only thing I don't really get or will not ever get is the hardcore dance the kids were doing. Some of them fools were getting pummeled rightfully since they were throwing their arms up everywhere like a spaz and hitting people! The set list included kick ass songs like, Destroy everything, Doomsayer, Never alone, Spitting Venom, A call for Blood and the ever anthemic song, I will be heard. Hatebreed really threw it down even after Jamie Jasta says that they're tired and just barely got of a pacific tour. Well my friends, it did not show. They fucking played their assess off like champs and I can't wait for them to come back. They played for completely an hour and a half with complete disregard and obliteration. The only way to do it. Hats off to Hatebreed, they killed it! Looking forward to seeing them at Ozzfest, they should kill it there too.
