Dirtbag Clothing

Wear it till it stinks! Dirtbag Clothing has been around since 1996 and has been "stinkin" up the scene ever since. Musicians like Dimebag Darrel, Dave Navarro, Slash have all been seen sporting the infamous brand. John from Dirtbag lends us his thoughts.....

Gian: Who is Dirtbag Clothing?

John: Dirtbag Clothing is me (Dirtbag John) Doug, DW, REM and some VERY GOOD friends that help us out so we can continue to WEAR IT 'TIL IT STINKS!

Gian: Who or What is the inspiration?

John: our "inspiration"....HMMMMMM that's a tough one but for me it's all the people that just dig DIRTBAG. We never really thought we would get this far in this crazy world of apparel BUT it was all the people stopping me and going "Dirtbag, that's cool" or "Dirtbag, where did you get that".....I mean this happened EVERY TIME I wore my first Dirtbag shirt I bought off of Doug. So I was a FAN before I officially joined up with Dirtbag and it was the response I saw wearing the product that made me go "yeah this is something....I don't know what it is but there is something here"......

Gian: How did you guys decide on the name?

John: Doug (the "founder" of Dirtbag) saw the shirt at a party and "bought" the rights off his buddy as he saw the potential the very second he saw the shirt.

Gian: Being the owners of Dirtbag must be sweet. What are the perks of having your own company?

John: HA.... PERKS.... well being a small company debt is a perk no one tells you about LOL!!! The best part are all the people we've been able to meet. Dirtbag does a lot with the music scene so meeting all the bands is really cool. Everyone we've met have been REALLY cool and totally supportive of Dirtbag which is so kick ass I can't believe it. We got to see Slipknot record there last record and now we hook up with them every time they pass through town. Meeting Jerry Cantrell was AWESOME but the biggest thrill yet and one that will live with me forever was meeting and then working with Dimebag Darrel(Pantera/Damageplan). What a GREAT guy and the memories I have of him I will cherish til I'm 6 feet under. LOL) another perk is I'm never far from a clean shirt which for Dirtbag is not a major deal but my wife likes it when I do change my shirt every few days.....I HATE LAUNDRY! (that was almost our "slogan" but "WEAR IT 'TIL IT STINKS" won out. ..

Gian: Your designs are awesome. Who came up with the concept for the designs?

John: Dirtbag is a TEAM effort so we all have a say in design. I'm the ring leader but we have designers working for us and we just bounce the ideas around until we find the ones we like......pretty simple if we like it we hope others will as well....so far so good!

Gian: Is there anybody you would like to see sporting Dirtbag Threads?

John: YOU AND ALL YOUR READERS! LOL.... na really we just want the people who like our stuff to wear it. Like we tell the bands and others if you like our stuff STINK IT UP if not F#ck it..... We don't pay people to wear Dirtbag as that just seems lame to me as if you're forced to support something you don't like or believe in then why bother..... I know that's not very "PC" but with a name like DIRTBAG kissing ass is the last thing we want to do.

Gian: Do you guys ever find the time to unwind and have a good time?

John: Yeah we try but Dirtbag is growing so it's really a 7 day a week job but it doesn't feel like a job so we just keep pushing forward...... Doug's in a band, Rem is usually on the road doing his guitar Tech stuff, DW is the Family man and I'm playing with my dog.... not exciting but Dirtbag takes care of all that so being boring at home is actually a good thing....

Gian: Without Dirtbag, what would you guys be doing?

John: Wow 12 years and still going who knows....... Can't think about the "what if's" as we have a big world to STINK UP and that will take a long time so we'll be doing Dirtbag for a long long time!!!

Gian: What is Dirtbag’s plans for 2007?

John: BIG BIG BIG plans....more apparel for sure and we're also starting our own DIRTBAG MUSIC site that will be so kick ass I know we'll be talking again.

Gian: Any additional comments?
