Bring Me The Horizon

BMTH is not afraid of going beyond the expectations of a modern extreme act. Having been only together for a short span of 3 years, BMTH has accomplished more than bands that have been around for 10. Known for their technically beautiful, yet honestly brutal sound, the band’s widespread appeal has been swelling to a point of no return. Matt takes a moment to reflect about their current release and what the meaning of life is.

Gian: So you guys' hard work, "Count Your Blessings" is came out on August 14th. How excited are you guys to release your latest effort?

Matt: We're super excited it seems like we've been trying forever to get a CD out over there and its been frustrating at times having a CD out in the UK and Not in the US espcially when we have kids asking for it!

Gian: How much work went into making "Count Your Blessings" as far as song writing, production, album title and the overall sound?

Matt: It terms on time it took around 8 months from writing the 1st song to finishing but during that time we would be touring too and also we would have times where all we did was wake up write all day and go to bed. We even went out into a cottage in the country side so for 2 weeks to concentrate on writing so there were no distractions.

Gian: If you could sum up "Count Your Blessings" into one sentence, what would guys say?

Matt: Its not a perfect CD but its honest and heavy!

Gian: Are you guys planning to make a DVD anytime soon?

Matt: Yeah, we've been filming a lot over the last 6 months and I think maybe over xmas 07 we will start to edit it all and putting all the footage together. We want to make a DVD which is entertaining and not self indulgant in anyway, I've seen alot of DVDs with live footage and then stories being told by band members which can get pretty boring. We just want to show people what its like being in BMTH.

Gian: I read about you guys' little scare with the wheel bearing. Man, I'll tell ya, I've been in a pile up and a few accidents before and that shit ain't no joke. How in the hell did the wheel bearing come off?

Matt: I have no idea im not good with cars/vans or anything like that. All I know is that I heard a loud grinding noise and our driver at the time started shouting! we managed to pull over at a freeway in germany and then he told us that we weren't going to be moving for the next day or two. Its the worst thing ever when that happens.

Gian: You guys probably write the music, overall, but who is the workhorse of the band? Who writes the bulk of it?

Matt: Im not so sure? It can vary mostly it starts with an idea or a riff and we will all be at our practice room then we'll get that together on guitars, drums and bass and then move on to the next part and if anyone has an idea for the next part then they let it be known. The hard part is when 2 or more people have different ideas but dont want to backdown, it usually follows a debate.

Gian: So you guys are going to be rolling through all these towns and cities from now through December, how do you guys keep amused while out on the road?>

Matt: Its different every day somedays theres somthing going on like a bar or a party, somtimes theres nothing else to do but watch DVDs, and sometimes just out of the ordinary things happen....but you'll have to see the dvd for that!

Gian: Speaking of the road.....BMTH is on the Sweet Revenge Tour with Kittie, It Dies Today and Silent Civilian. How excited were you guys to be a part of such a great package?

Matt: We just finished that tour and it was really good for us, we had alot of people watching us and specifically coming out to see us which was something we didnt expect when you fly 3500 miles + to play a show. Its pretty crazy when people are singing along and dancing like crazy!

Gian: Now take me through this Matt.....What's a typical day like for BMTH while out on the road?

Gian: Well I wake up around 1pm-3pm (depending on the days activites before) usually figure out where I am and what kinda area it is! Check out the venue, have some breakfast. Around 4/5 if we have to sound check ill go do that then once thats finished i'm free until around 9/10 so its spent hanging out with people having a drink or two and if the towns good where we are ill go into town! Then we play and hopefully its a good show, then afterwards if theres a shower I'll jump in that, then carry on hanging out or maybe watch a DVD or go to a bar. Then crawl into bed about 3/4am

Gian: BMTH loves______________.

Matt: Everything at the moment!

Gian: What do you guys consider a good time?

Matt: Getting to play a show everyday!

Gian: "What is the meaning of Life" BMTH?

Matt: Do all you want to do but do it today, don't wait for tomorrow cause it may never come.

Gian: Thanks Matt!

Make sure you pick up a copy of "Count Your Blessings," out now on Visible Noise/Earache/Shock Records! BMTH will also be out on their Winter UK tour until the mid-December so make sure to get your tickets and check out the craziness that is BMTH live. Check on BMTH's Myspace for more info!
