Alone We Break
Energetic and genre-skipping, Alone We Break is ready to break the rules and find a way to carve their own niche in the world of metal.
By: Mark Frantik
Mark: Who is Alone We Break?
KD: Our band name is Alone We Break. This was decided in late 2005. After seeing some real cheesey names around, we didn't want to be one of those bands where people took a look at the name and didn't give you the time of day after that! So we came up with a list of around 25 names and decided on this one.
Mark: What best describes the music that you guys play and how did you guys get started?
KD: Our music is energetic and genre-skipping, giving a wide spread of power and emotion in our live set. We want fans to leave gigs thinking that we kept the power and aggression such metal bands like All Shall Perish and Bring Me The Horizon have, yet also delivered something different to what they are used to seeing and hearing. The band formed when a couple of us took music tech as an A-Level subject, and when asked to record on each others songs, discovered a spark. It was instantly noticed that in terms of influence and direction, a band could be formed with the dedication required to go pretty far.
Mark: What is the message that your band is trying to convey?
KD: We aren't particularly trying to get a message out there or make people believe something we think they should. For sure, music is a good way to send a message out. But there are a lot of people who go on that stage, and because they're standing a few foot taller than the other people, believe that they have more power and are more of a human-being. At the end of the day, we're all equal and we just want all our fans to know that. We write the music purely because we love music. We just want you to come down to a show and have a good time listening to it.
Mark: If you guys had the chance to share the stage with anyone, who would you guys choose and why?
KD: There are so many bands who have influenced us guys with their talents and originality from day one who we would love to gig with! Any band who has done anything that little bit different to stand out from the crowd and pioneered a new branch of a genre such at Norma Jean or Enter Shikari would be awesome. But in terms of someone joining us on stage for our set, it has to be Noel Fielding. How could that not be fun?
Mark: Any additional comments?
KD: Thanks Mark, you're a legend :) Alone We Break are recording a new EP starting March 26th, and EPs will be available online. If fans want to listen to our current tracks they can check them out on www.myspace.com/alonewebreakuk
