Horrorpops
Kiss Kiss Kill Kill. Sound set to Kill.

With a new album on the horizon that is sure to kill, Horrorpops give us another heaping of top-notch pop punk/pyschobilly madness with a dash of bittersweet taste to it. Patricia, Nekroman, and Hendrik find insipration in the old school and hooks us all up with some fantastic sounds on their latest, "Kiss Kiss, Kill Kill." Hendrik takes a minute to talk with Frantik.
Hey Hendrik, can you please give our readers a quick history lesson on how Horrorpops got started and what you guys are all about?
Well... it started with Patricia and Nekroman meeting at popcomm i germany in 1996. After that, they started writing some songs together and I joined a little later. What HorroPops try to do is make music that we ourselves like, and not what the common trend is. We get inspiration from all things in life like bad television, bad movies, bad girls, cool cars, cool hair, vintage guitars, good beer etc.
From the two tracks that you guys have posted up on myspace, it sounds like this album is going to be one hell of an album and will probably be your best effort to date. How much work went into this album and what do you guys hope to accomplish with “Kiss, Kiss, Kill, Kill?”
It took about two months to produce the album. We recorded all the basic tracks at Sound City in LA. After that we took the master to our own studio and did all the guitars, vocals and so on. Then we went back to Sound City and mixed it all together. And what we hope to accomplish is WORLD DOMINATION, FAST CARS and our own REALITY SHOW... HAHA... or maybe just stay on the road, which is what we love to do...
So is it safe to say that you guys might be going out on the road to support the album release? Package tour maybe?
2008 is going to one big tour for the HorrorPops. Gigs, gigs and more gigs... what? you wanna see my package... dirty bastard!
Lol! No thanks......What prompted you guys to get the inspiration from old films and features to fuel the awesome material that you guys have provided on the new album?
We've always had a thing for film noir and old B-movies, so it's not like it's a new thing. It's been a thing with us even before we started the HorrorPops...
Three albums into your careers, videos and a respectable amount of shows later, what is the formula for Horrorpops success?
I think the formula is staying on the road as much as possible. No more no less.... I know it's a short answer, but it's true.
Let’s change it up a bit. Radiohead threw a wrench into the music world’s system and came up with a #1 album by letting their fans price their album as to what they think it’s worth, without any label backing. What are your thoughts on this subject?
If they were not all millionaires beforehand, do you think they would have done it the same way ?
While were on this subject, music is really in a state of change with the whole digital downloading taking over album sales. What are you guys thoughts on the war between digital downloading vs. physical purchase?
I think it's a shame that the whole culture of going record shop hoping is dying, but I myself buy most of my music from Itunes these days. Illegal downloading is the downfall of the music industry, but what can we do... I don't fucking know. Starting a reality show seems to be the answer these days...
I went ahead and watched some HorrorpopsTV and one of them stuck out, which would be Episode # 5. Quick question, where did he learn those sweet dance moves and are we going to see anymore?
Nekroman was a ballroom dancer in a former life... scary.... truely dread man!
Not unless I’ve been living under a rock for a while, which I probably have been, Horrorpops are still the only band that’s fronted by a female vocalist that doubles on the stand up bass that I know of. Is this mere fact any constellation to the band and how has that certain fact changed things for the band and it’s future?
......Eeeeh.... what? why is gender such an important question. If the band rocks it rocks. I myself would love to see an all female midget mariachi band... wouldn't you?
That would be just lovely I bet. You guys have been crafting a following from playing shows everywhere and things in Horropops’ world is really starting to pick up. How dear are your fans and how much do you guys owe to your die hard fans? Any weird fan stories you’d like to share?
We as all other bands owe everything to our fans. Without them we are nothing. Especialy the ones who get HorrorPops tattoo's or travel from city to city to
"Illegal downloading is the downfall of the music industry, but what can we do... I don't fucking know. Starting a reality show seems to be the answer these days..."
see us. They are awesome... we have a section on our myspace page with pictures of fans with HorrorPops tat's... check it out!
With all of the touring, promoting and partying, what do you guys do to relax and kill time when you do get home? Basically, what do you guys do to pass the time when you’re not doing what you do best?
Nekroman is fixing his old vintage cars, I'm in a recording studio somewhere and Patricia is practicing flying on her broom when she's not out driving her old MG.
Horrorpops loves _______________________________________.
HorrorPops loves licorice. Strong european licorice....
If a die hard fan of yours came up to you for advice and asked the question, ”Horrorpops, what is the meaning of life?” What would you guys say?
That's a tough one. I guess I would tell him/her to live your life the best you can and find out for yourself. Ups and down's... it's all part of it!
Aside from a new album and hopefully a tour to match, what else can we expect from Horrorpops in 2008?
Touring is pretty much all that you can expect from us in 2008. IT'S GONNA BE AWSOME...
Any additional comments or shout-outs?
Stay tuned to HorrorPopsTV... there will be reports from the road and so on during 2008.
PEACE!
Thanks Hendrik!
