Strategize Your Valentine's Day

By: Gian Erguiza - February, 2008

Valentine’s Day is the day to pay full attention to your most precious loved one. People go through great lengths to make it an awesome and unforgettable experience. Frantik has come up with some nice ideas to make your Valentine’s Day a memorable one.

Offer Flowers - This one is a no brainer. Nothing soothes a woman’s soul and affection like a nice batch of flowers, preferably fresh red roses. Flowers are known to be a symbolic way to show natural love. The color and fragrance of roses gives off a nice “loving” feeling and your loved one will definitely appreciate them. Now giving flowers isn’t just for your most precious but for your other loved ones as well like your mom and if you’re married, your mother in law. Plus, giving flowers to your mother in love is a good heaping of brownie points. Take note.

Gift of Key - You will be giving gifts right? The usual suspects are chocolates, teddy bear if you like that sort of thing, and a piece of jewelry accompanied by a nice dinner date but what about a Key? Yes. This one will surely strike well with your loved one. Although it might seem cheesy, in the exact right moment, it will be the highlight of your gifts. First, go to a thrift shop or an antique store and purchase a nice key. Make sure you wrap it in beautiful paper. When your loved one opens it, tell them that “It’s the key to your heart.” If there was any way for you to go the extra mile, bring the key to a jeweler and ask them if they can insert some diamonds on the key to make it more meaningful.

Get Creative - Do something different. Do something that he or she has always wanted to do to make it extra special. Doing something that both of you wouldn’t normally do will definitely make it memorable. Think outside of the box and it will greatly make your love that much stronger. Flowers leading up to the bedroom, Breakfast in bed, Flowers at work, Dedicate a song to her on the radio, A book of love poems made by you, Gift basket, Special coupons made by you, Edible underwear, Her name in the sky, whatever it is but make it creative and fun! You can also spice it up by sending naughty text messages. You can also do a bit of role playing like playing the role of single woman/single man meeting in a bar and taking it home for a wild night of pleasure. You can also cook a special candlelight dinner with a massage to match. The bottom line is to do something that is unexpected, affectionate, and creative!

Dress for the Occasion - Dressing up for this occasion makes for a good night. It send messages to both that it is going to be a special night. For the ladies, make sure that you pick out a dress in the color of his liking. For the males, make sure you groom properly and dress as sharply as you can. This is a good way to break out of the box and make it special.

The Getaway - Plan a getaway for the both of you. There are lots places that host a Valentine’s getaway that will surely make your Valentine’s a nice treat. Imagine you and your loved one all alone in a white sand beach with the moonlight and your very own hut for the night. Imagine you and your loved one, outdoors, enjoying live music, playing games, walking snowy trails or beautiful hiking trails with a breathtaking scenery. Get out, getaway from the norm and go somewhere serene and breathtaking. Take a trip out of town, leave all of your devices and work at home, and enjoy yourselves!

Pictures - If you pictures of the two of you, bring them out, dust them off, and share it with each other over your favorite drink. Looking at pictures is the greatest reminder of why you guys fell in love in the first place. If you don’t have any pictures of the two of you, now is a good time to start taking them. Get other people to take pictures of the two of you. If you don’t have many but have a few good ones, get them framed and display them at your house or work. If you do have a good lot, buy a nice photo book, insert the pictures and if you have enough time, put some captions about the time and date or what the pictures signifies to you.

Plan Ahead - Planning ahead relieves a lot of pressure off you. Always think forward when it comes to Valentine’s Day to keep it special. Planning ahead will make both of you happy and will strengthen your relationship significantly. This will also ensure that you’re not repeating your performance from last year. I mean, come on, you have a year to think about it so you better come up with something different from the last. Whether it’d be the date itself, the gift, a poem, a trip, sexual adventure, whatever it is, plan ahead and save yourself the trouble of trying to come up with something last minute and un-meaningful.

Valentine’s is the simple fact of spending time together and showing your loved one how much you care. A well-timed “I Love You,” peck on the cheek, laughter, hand holding, giggling, cuddling, and a lot of smiling goes a long way especially on this day. When you take time to show how much you care and loved them, it really pays off in a big way. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
